White Water Kayak Courses

“Going with the Flow”

If you are new to moving water, or just not very confident on it yet, then this is the course for you. You will learn the fundamentals and core skills of white water kayaking. These will be the foundation of your white water kayaking future!

Pre-Requisites: Some moving water experience would be beneficial, but none is required.

“Smooth Moves”

Have you ever battled down a rapid, struggling to get in enough strokes to keep yourself on that vital line, only to reach the eddy and see someone else gliding down the river and making the whole thing look effortless? This course will expand on your ability to read the water and use it to your advantage, whilst developing your personal skills to make you a smoother and more stylish paddler.

Pre-Requisites: Grade 2- 3 White Water experience would be beneficial.

“Paddle Like a Jedi”

A Jedi does not ‘try’, they either ‘do’ or ‘do not’. This course will be focused on increasing your confidence and self belief on the water. It will look at challenging and changing the language you use, using visualisation to focus your mind and give you techniques with which to draw on previous successes, to help you do what you know you can.

Pre-Requisites: Grade 2- 3 White Water experience would be beneficial.

Pre-Planning Your Moves on White Water

When you look at a rapid, what do you see? A series of inter-linked moves, or a chaotic white mess? For intermediate paddlers this course will help you learn to read the water, identify features you can use to your advantage and plan your descent of each rapid so that you always know where you are and where you’re going next. For advanced paddlers, this course will help you make a plan you can stick to when you are pushing your limits, and give you the skills to come up with plan B, when plan A doesn’t work!

Pre-Requisites: Intermediate Paddlers will need to have some experience on Grade 2- 3 White Water.

Advanced Paddlers will need to have had some experience on Grade 3-4 White Water.

Take the Fear out of Stoppers

Stoppers can be fluffy, bouncy, useful and fun, but so often they are seen as thrashy, intimidating and scary. Change how you look at stoppers, learn to identify the fun from the less fun, how to use them to your advantage and how to use them to play!

Pre-Requisites: Paddlers will need to have experience on Grade 2- 3 White Water, having a white water roll is not necessary but would be beneficial.

Slalom Precision on Every River

It’s no surprise that slalom paddlers have been dominating white water extreme races for the last few years. Their years of slalom training has given them speed, style and accuracy when tackling hard rapids. This course will teach you how to get that same slalom precision on every river.

Pre-Requisites: Intermediate Paddlers will need to have some experience on Grade 2- 3 White Water.

Advanced Paddlers will need to have had some experience on Grade 3-4 White Water.

“The Fun Factor”

At some point in all of our kayaking lives, we lose the way a little. We have a swim, a bad day on the river or maybe just don’t have time to do any paddling for a while, and we forget why it is that we do this sport. Spend a day getting back to your happy place and re-discover the fun in your boating.

Pre-Requisites: Paddlers will need to have experience on Grade 2- 3 White Water, having a white water roll is not necessary but would be beneficial.

De-mystifying the Dark Art of Boofing
The ‘Boof’ – a cornerstone of modern white water kayaking that is simple to master, yet much misunderstood. Whether you are taking your first steps on the road to a solid boof, or are struggling to get it mastered, this course will have you gaining air miles in no time.

Pre-Requisites: Paddlers will need to have had some experience on Grade 3-4 White Water.
